The “Divine Ping” is a term I came up with in my book “God’s Little Secret“, which describes how the universe communicates with you. We also have a cool podcast about it, so check out our Divine Ping podcast here.
When you think about a message from the universe, you may be imagining a “booming voice from the sky” or “messages from burning bushes”… well, you’d be surprised to know that you universe is talking to you all the time, and all you need to do is learn how to listen…
Here’s how it works:
When you meditate, or pray, or talk to god in other ways you start a conversation in motion. Your thoughts start a discussion topic with universe and it will respond. You may be initiating this conversation even without knowing, by putting intense thoughts into the universe subconsciously.
The “The Divine Ping” is the way the universe talks back on a subject of your thoughts or meditation and reveals actions or resources that will help you accomplish what you were thinking about.
Let’s use a real life example to illustrate this:
I enjoy running. I also enjoy writing and I was looking for a way to get better at both.
A while back, I was on an international trip, and I walked into the airport bookstore to buy a magazine for the flight. I was in a bit of a hurry, and I didn’t have time to browse around and look at the books like I usually like doing when in a bookstore. To make things more complicated off, I had my carryon bag in one hand, a bottle of water in the other and things were just very crazy.
I got my magazine, and because my hands were full, I had a hard time carrying the extra bag around as I walked out the store. And of course, I finally fumbled and dropped the magazine on the floor before I left the bookstore.
As I bent over to pick it up, I looked up, and on one of the lower shelves in the bookstore, I saw a book titled: “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running” by Haruki Murakami.
I have never heard of this book or this author, but I realized this was a divine ping moment, a message sent to me by the universe that I need to pay attention to.
I picked up the book, and it is exactly about what I was looking for: a story about a successful author who also runs marathons and how he combines running and writing and is successful in both.
Obviously, I bought the book…
So you might think, “This was just a coincidence” or something like that…But I’ve come to realize that there’s no such thing as a “coincidence”, that’s just how the universe communicates with you.
Every time you plant a though or desire in the oneness field, the universe will start to show you ways to accomplish that desire. These pings may be small, they may be “coincidences” and they may be just fleeting ideas that pop into your head, but those are messages from universe!
Have you ever seen a new product and said “oh, I thought of that 10 years ago!”?
I used to do that a lot, and I know people who do that all the time. That message, 10 years ago, was a divine ping. The universe was showing you an opportunity and telling you something.
Because we all have free will, we are free to ignore divine pings without any consequences. Even though I can see divine pings everywhere I go, I still choose to ignore some either because I don’t have the time to follow them, or because I am currently working on other divine pings, but when I do so, I do it in conscious thought and actively decide to let that ping go.
Once you become aware of these divine pings as messages from the oneness, you’ll start to see them everywhere.
Let me tell you this though, if you ignore too many pings, the part of you that can see divine pings will wither away and you will stop noticing them.
What really helps me keep my “Divine ping muscle” in shape is carrying a notebook (or sometimes even my phone) around with me, and writing down ideas and things I see as divine pings for later use.
I can honestly say that I don’t follow up on a lot of them, just because the day to day grind sometime gets the best of me, but those I do follow up on, lead to amazing results and paths I’ve never imagined.
Make sure to listen to the Divine Ping podcast to learn more about divine pings, how to identify them and what to do once you get them.
